Menu included: Barbecued chicken, white bean Italian soup, pasta, roasted cauliflower, bread and salad.
Plus a dessert of milkshakes, some made with beer, a la Doc Ricketts recipe.
Each table sported a theme from one of Steinbeck's books—Cannery Row, Of Mice and Men, Tortilla Flat, etc.
