More than 50 pieces of art by Galen Wolf will be on display during this one-day show. There may be a few for sale. An accomplished storyteller as well as a talented artist, Galen’s knowledge of the Coastside's history was acquired firsthand, through his own experiences and those of his family and friends. Galen painted the California Missions in the 1930s, worked as a WPA artist in the early 40s, and developed a unique style of painting he called "mosaic" in the 1950s. He was a founding member of Thirty and One Artists, the Society that of Western Artists, and, more locally, the Spanishtown Historical Society.

Noon to 5 PM: This event is free and open to the public. Stay as long as you like.
2 PM presentation: Introduction to Galen Wolf, his works and reading of his stories.

About Shannon Nottestad

Shannon lived on the Coastside since 1969, and currently resides in in Oregon. She began collecting Galen Wolf's paintings in 1998 and researching his life and art the following year. Since 2005 she has been preserving and archiving a collection of Wolf's paintings, writings, and artifacts that belonged to the artist's late daughter, Ressa Fairbanks. After Shannon retired from a career as a library paraprofessional in 2008, she reprinted Wolf's local history booklets, The Town That Was, Coastland, and 1885. In 2012, she published Legends of the Coastland, a folkloric history of the San Mateo County Coast written and illustrated by Galen Wolf.
