Speakers Series: Gordon Wiltsie

Description
Scaling the Razor - Mountaineering in Antarctica
6:00 PM: Gallery Reception
7:00 PM: Presentation
Local Odd Fellows member Gordon Wiltsie, a veteran explorer, writer and National Geographic photographer, will show pictures and talk about modern day mountaineering in Antarctica, culminating with his documentation of the first big-wall climb ever achieved on the forbidding continent.
His talk will cover the span of a dozen expeditions to spectacular and seldom-visited mountain ranges and follow the development of private polar aviation that first enabled non-governmental explorers to reach any places not accessible by ship. En route, he’ll introduce us to some of the leading mountaineers and Antarctic explorers of our time.
Preceding the event at 6:00 PM, Wiltsie will also host a reception for an exhibit of his pictures that is currently hanging in the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Admission is $10. Seating is limited. Please reserve. Your ticket admits you to the reception preceding this talk.
